A deep investigation into the spirit and energy of Campania—a land that has always been at the center of my visual research—the photographic project “Blue Soul” (Anima Blu) focuses on the articulation of emotions, the effort, and the tension that define the act of entering the famous Blue Grotto.
A cavern steeped in history and poignant beauty, the Grotto of Capri, with the magnetic blue of its waters, has exerted a hypnotic fascination for centuries, shaping the collective imagination of artists and travelers from all over the world.
Photography as a rite of passage in Capri
Today, this natural sea cave, among the most famous in the world, is visited by thousands of tourists. Through a narrow entrance, barely two meters wide and less than a meter high, the skippers accompany groups of curious visitors to enjoy colors, plays of light, and reflections that imprint themselves—indelibly—upon the viewer’s soul.
The core of this photographic research on Campania lies precisely in this feeling of profound fascination: a pure emotion originating in the very act of revelation, from which powerful energies are unleashed.
From shade to light: the emotion of blue
The visual narrative of Blue Soul unfolds along this contrast:
The anticipation and tension clearly visible on the faces of visitors before entering;
The revelation of the interior, the exact moment when the light filters in and the intense shade of blue begins to spread.
A growing splash of color that fills the eyes and the heart, a nuance that defines and redefines the soul forever. Through my shots, the tourist experience is thus transformed into an inner, spiritual journey.
