My Female Portrait: Meeting Grazia
They say she is my female portrait. Indeed, I have felt this statement vibrating in my veins since her very first breath. However, Grazia is not a silent echo. She is a complex symphony where my character meets an indomitable maternal heritage. I call this unique chromosomal interference “cazzimma,” with a mixture of pride and fear.

Framing a Wildfire
Photographing her is like trying to frame a wildfire. In fact, her charm lies entirely in a breathtaking contrast. She possesses a naked sensitivity that moistens her gaze when the world becomes too noisy.
Furthermore, this vulnerability alternates without warning with a sharp pride. Therefore, you can see the cazzimma taking command. This posture asks no permission, showing her unique ability to stand in the world without ever lowering her head.

The Struggle and Concession in Front of the Camera
When I push her in front of the camera, the struggle begins right there. She resists and shrugs her shoulders. Consequently, she opposes that refusal typical of someone who does not want to be possessed by a shot.
Then, finally, she gives in to the lens. But it is not a passive surrender; it is a concession of love. In that moment, I stop being just a father. Instead, I become a guide who whispers to the photographer. I tell him not to look at the form, but to wait for the impact of the essence.

Where Fragility Meets Strength
In addition, I look for the exact point where her fragility meets her strength. This is where my reflection clashes with her mother’s imprint.

As a result, Grazia stops being just an image in those shots. She finally becomes a story of belonging and rebellion, made of deep roots and wings already spread.

Capturing the Authentic Miracle
When the light finally hits her face, she truly lets herself be watched. In that moment, I realize I am not looking for the perfect photo. Rather, I am trying to stop the miracle of seeing her change day after day. She is becoming the most authentic version of the two of us.
Ultimately, I find myself again in that portrait, in that fragment of identity stolen from time. I find her mother there too. Above all, I find her: magnificently, unrepeatably Grazia.
