My name is Pino Codispoti,
I’m a photographer.

I approached painting with passion and dedication at a very young age; in 1985, I designed the logo for the Badolato Borgo Festival, which in 2011 was chosen as the image for the commemorative postcard and philatelic postmark celebrating the 60th anniversary of the “Sciopero Arrovescio” (Reverse Strike). However, during my adolescence, I discovered photography and its possibilities; from that point forward, it became the defining medium of my artistic practice.
Between 1980 and 1984, I began a photographic research project in the Municipality of Badolato, where I was born in 1964, to create an image archive of the entire village (vistas, details, and snapshots of daily life). Over the years, the Municipality and local institutions have utilized this material for various cultural initiatives and events.
My university years in Rome, a period rich with inspiration, opened a long chapter of reflection and work centered on themes related to Mediterranean culture. During this time, my research and studies also focused on the transition from analog to digital technology.
My approach to photography has undergone radical transformations from my early experiments to the present day. While I began taking photos fascinated by the beauty of my homeland, over the years this passion has evolved into a deep and heartfelt investigation of the elements that define its character and identity. Through photography, I strive to articulate narratives—stories told through images—to leave behind traces and construct memories.
